MDS Blog Hop: Swatchbooks

This week's challenge was to create a swatchbook project. The swatchbook is a great, inexpensive option to show off your photos. They make great gifts. My mom asked me to make a swatchbook to give to my grandfather for Father's Day with pictures of our family. He lives in California so we don't get to see him much. He has so many grand kids (and now a few great-grand kids) and this is a good way for him to keep track of who belongs to who in our little family. I still need to add the journaling which will mostly be names on each page. I used the new Life Celebrated Swatchbook Template which made putting this together so easy. I just added photos. I love the colors, designs, and quotes included in this template. Here are some of my favorite pages from the swatchbook.

Recreating Trendy Paper-Crafting Looks in My Digital Studio

I was browsing Pinterest today and felt very creatively inspired, so I decided to create this page based on this one I saw. The page was designed in a sheet protector that had one big pocket in the middle and little ones on top and bottom and I wanted to recreate that look. You could even add some stitching in between the photos if you really wanted to make it look like the photos were in a sheet protector.

I also wanted to make my title look like it was cut out of paper. I love the cut-out titles you can make with die cut machines and software these days, and really wanted to make my own digital version. I had to use Photoshop to create the title and then I brought it into MDS. Here is the tutorial I used if you would like to try it yourself. I had so much fun stretching my creative muscles today. Thanks for stopping by!

P.S. I did use the Cheerful Treat Hostess Content CD from last year's catalog. It is no longer available to purchase. Sometimes I may use retired digital products, but hopefully this will help you be inspired to use some of those oldies-but-goodies still in your collection. (Download the CK Ali's Handwriting Font I used for the journaling. See below for everything else.)

MDS Blog Hop: Celebrations

Today's theme is celebrations. I made a mental list of all the scrapbook pages I still needed to make and I remembered I hadn't done anything with these pictures yet. They are of my niece's 2nd birthday party. It was also one of the first birthday parties Esper had been to so I had to take lots of pictures of her cuteness that day. :) I used another template from the Keep This Memory Photobook Template that I used last week, but changed out the colors and paper. I love this new Fan Fair Collection- it's my favorite of all the product suites this year.

MDS Blog Hop: Fathers (+ video tutorial)

HoToday's layouts celebrate fathers. I have the best father.  Seeing him as a grandfather to my daughter has added a whole new level of admiration. I used a template from the Keep This Memory Photobook Template. I have a video for you today. It's pretty simple and shows you how to use the Photo Effects tool. I am going to start having tutorials on my blog- some that I will charge for- and I would love your feedback on what kinds of things you would like to see. Are there any techniques, tips, or tricks you'd like to know how to do? Thanks for the feedback.

MDS Blog Hop: Hybrid

I don't have a hybrid project for you today (fighting with my printer didn't sound so appealing) but I do have a fun invitation to show you. Esper is turning two at the end of this month and I am so excited to host an owl/enchanted forest themed party for her. My Digital Studio does all the work for me when it comes to having a fully coordinated party ensemble that will include a banner, decorations, labels, and this invitation. (Not to mention the coordinating scrapbook page or mini album.) I had fun designing this. (Personal info changed.)

MDS Blog Hop: Fresh & New

I apologize for not having a post today. This holiday weekend made me a day off so I thought today was Thursday. Oops!

Enjoy the projects everyone else has made!
