MDS Blog Hop: Must-Have Downloads

This week we made projects using our must-have downloads. Pretty much my favorite MDS products at any given moment is the last one I downloaded. This week it is the Convention 2012 Photobook Template (I love the chalkboard background and the chevron DSP) and the Be Awesome Today Easel Calendar Template (don't you love that title? The quotes and typography of this kit are amazing). Of course some old standbys are things like the flag punch that comes with the Comfort Cafe Designer Template Pages (it's a little longer and skinnier than the flag punch) and of course the frames from the Fan Fair Photobook Template.

I discovered the coolest technique last night by accident! See that chevron background? It's normally only Daffodil Delight and I recolored it this way using the technique. I am so excited to show this video with members of my online My Digital Studio class My Secret Studio. It is a self-paced class with many projects and videos, so it's perfect for you to join and then spend a rainy day catching up. So come join us! This is a technique you MUST SEE.

MDS Blog Hop: Postcard

This week has been crazy! Classes started for me again and Esper is now going to a half-day child care center three days a week. The postcard I'm sharing with you today I designed for the Convention MDS display boards but wasn't used. This would be a great invitation to send for an end-of-summer party.

This week I made what I think is my favorite digital layout ever- and posted it in my online MDS class (My Secret Studio.) Come join us and enjoy looking at more projects! Today I will have a bonus postcard just for class members to see.

Out Of Candy Halloween Door Sign

Don't you hate it on Halloween when you are out of candy but the doorbell keeps ringing every five minutes? Here's a good solution for that-- a cute sign you can hang on your door that lets kids know to move on to the next house. You can even put this up if you just aren't going to be home for the evening (though your neighbors might wonder how you ran out of candy at 6pm).

One of my favorite things about MDS 2 are the new stamp sets that are in SVG format. Basically it means that you can use them as large as you want! So I increased the size of this bat from the Tricky Treats Stamp Brush Set and used the Coloring Tool to add some Tangerine Tango to the image. I love the result! I also cropped the "eeek" image from another stamp in the set.

Today in my online class (My Secret Studio) I show how to get the most out of your embellishments now that they have a crop feature in MDS 2. Come play with us!

Congrats Card Featuring Fan Fair Ensemble

Here is another card I designed for the Convention MDS display boards that didn't up on display. It's a very simple card, but would be a great design to use for any event- just switch out the greeting.

If you're still interested in my online class (My Secret Studio), you should join! Yesterday I showed how to convert 8" x 8" board book template pages into 12" x 12". I was very excited to figure out a way to do this!

MDS Blog Hop: Summer Fun

Today's theme is summer fun. I wanted to use one of the new photo templates included with the MDS 2 upgrade and this one was perfect for my photos of Esper's first swim lessons. I also used the Family Fun Photobook Template and Epic Overlays.

I made another summer fun layout for My Secret Studio (my online class). I love the page I made so much I couldn't decide which one to post in my class and which one to put here. Every week I do a bonus project using the weekly theme and it's been so much fun.

5 Months Layout Featuring Beau Chateau

I thought I'd try my hand at a vintage-meets-distressed-meets-chevron kind of layout. I still feel like there's something missing, but sometimes you just have to walk away from the computer and call it good enough. :)

I bought these Beau Chateau embellishments a while ago and still hadn't used them. Do you feel like you have to get some good use out of our downloads to justify the purchase? I certainly do. So the projects on my blog are usually a good mix of old and new downloads. Some of my favorite downloads are the ones I purchased a year ago and longer!

We're having fun in my online class- today I show how to recolor your Designer Series Paper in MDS 2. Come join us!
