Project Life: Week 2

I haven't given up Project Life yet! That's a big deal for me. Even though it did take an insane amount of time to make this layout. Because of that, I am keeping each week to one page instead of a 2-page spread. I might make some facing layouts match but for now I like using a different kit and color scheme each week. I'm loving the Ali Edwards brushes and already have like ten more on my wish list. I also used a Stampin' Up! digital kit (The Best Year). Did you know that you can use Stampin' Up!'s digital kits in other programs like Photoshop? Pretty awesome!

(OMG LOOK AT HOW CUTE MY DAUGHTER IS FALLING ASLEEP IN HER LADYBUG COSTUME.)

A Fresh Start On Project Life!

So I thought I would give Project Life another try. I've done previous versions here but needed more room for journaling and photos than that template allowed me. I even attempted the paper/divided sheet protectors style and found I just got frustrated with my lack of supplies. Digital is where I feel at home because I have such a selection of designs at my fingertips. And finding what I need is as easy as going online to a digital shop (I'm no longer a SU demo, so I am using many companies' products) and purchasing a kit or downloading a freebie! (see freebies used below). I'll keep it easy every week, trying to stick to one kit per week so that the color scheme is unified and embellishments are easy to pick. I'm thinking of sticking with one font and mostly word art from Ali Edwards. I have tons of great products I'd like to use and ideas on my Project Life Pinterest Board if you want inspiration. I'm really hoping this is the year I end up documenting more everyday moments of our life and telling stories, rather than just putting photos in layouts with pretty paper.

This week the template I used was a freebie from Becky Higgins' site and the kit is another freebie from Erica Zane. That's what I call a project on a dime! Now, does anyone want to purchase the Project Life Honey core kit I just purchased but won't be using?

MDS Blog Hop: Summer Project Life

Remember back in the day when I was doing my version of Project Life? Well it got away from me but now I'm back at it. My system has changed a bit. Trying to make sure I got every day recorded was a bit too much pressure for me. So now I just take the 7 most recent photos from my phone and put them on one page. I focus on the memory and journal about the photo, rather than other things we did that day. What I love about this is that the pressure is off. And now that I'm back in Project Life mode I find myself wanting to take more "everyday" photos of little moments in our lives. I realized that future generations are going to be more interested in these little snippets of our life. Actually I just enjoy looking back at these types of layouts I've made more than the others. I remember things I had forgotten like little traditions we used to have that we don't anymore, or how much our daily life has changed with Esper's growth. I encourage you to create a Project Life style layout, even if it's just every now and then, so you can preserve some of the things you maybe wouldn't have otherwise.

MDS Blog Hop: Pocket Cards

A few updates: We have moved our Blog Hop day to the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of every month. Also, we were sad to lose Kimberly Van Diepen but are excited to be adding Cori Kozak and Julie Davidse as members of the blog hop! Yay!

Last week I posted a layout about Robb and Esper's cute relationship and today I have another one. One thing I love about the pocket card style of scrapbooking is that it is perfect for accommodating cell phone photos. I had all these pictures of the two of them and this template was a great solution. I love, love, love this Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper.

And guess what? I made a video showing you how I made this great Project Life style template for future projects!

I loved this designer series paper so much I had to make two layouts with it. I used a Pinterest layout as inspiration of course. Enjoy the hop today!

Instagram Photobook

A year ago I did an online MDS class and had a lot of fun. I've decided to offer many of the videos here so that you can take advantage and purchase the video tutorials individually. The prices will be between $1.00-$2.00. Of course I will continue to upload free video tutorials and projects but this will help as I try to get a business going. Let me know if there are any techniques you'd specifically like to see.

Today's video is simply a slideshow showing you the finished version of the 5" x 5" Instagram photobook I made. If you're interested in viewing it, simply pay $1.50 using the PayPal button, and I will email you the password to view the video.

Enjoy!

MDS Blog Hop: Jump for Joy Scrapbook Page

I have been in a bit of a creative slump lately. (see: moving, potty training) It's felt like it's lasted the whole summer actually. All of a sudden the other day inspiration hit me full force and now I can't stop. It helps to have great photos to work with. This is my boyfriend, Robb, playing with my daughter. I'm glad I was able to capture a little bit of their relationship in these photos. He always gives her his full attention and plays so well with her. We're both so lucky to have him around. :)

I used my favorite paper again. I also used this layout as inspiration.

MDS Blog Hop: Celebrate Stampin' Up!

This week's theme is celebrate Stampin' Up! because the annual convention (this year celebrating 25 years!) is coming to SLC. Unfortunately I won't be there, but I'll still be celebrating the 24-ish years that Stampin' Up! has been in my life. My mom was demo #31 when she signed up back in 1989. Our house was always filled with ink, stamps, paper, and creativity galore. I'm grateful that I had opportunities to express my creativity as a child and want the same for Esper. I love that she can go down in my mom's stamp room and just go to town. She loves stamping and coloring with markers.

My layout today is from last week's Princess Festival that we attended. I wanted to try a page in the Project Life format and it came together very quickly. I used The Best Year Photobook Template as my base and then the This And That Epic Day Kit for everything else. There are some great projects by the girls today so make sure you check them out!
