Scared of Santa Scrapbook Page

Well I hope you enjoyed these 12 days of projects. I had a lot of fun and think I will do more blogging like this. Maybe 14 projects preceding Valentine's Day?

I'll end my 12 days of Christmas with a scrapbook page for Esper's album. For weeks we had talked about meeting Santa and sitting on his lap and she was very excited. I couldn't contain her from running up to him before it was even her turn yet. She stopped dead in her tracks and put her little hands over her eyes. Peeking through her fingers, she looked at him tentatively. No matter how much I encouraged her that he was really nice (honestly, how do I know?) she wouldn't sit on his lap. So I sat next to him with her on my lap. She told him she wanted "presents" when he asked her what she wanted for Christmas. She did give him a high-five which at least shows that he is alright in her book.

I hope you all have a fabulous holiday!

Christmas Chalkboard Frameable Word Art

I wanted to try my hand at a chalkboard-looking frameable I could put out at Christmas. I used this one (second one down) as inspiration. I used the freeform tool to curve a line that I then attached text to. It didn't turn out exactly as I was hoping, so I'll have to keep playing with this style.

I went shopping today and the crowds were crazy! I have a lot left to do before Christmas. Wrapping and baking and more wrapping. I can't wait to see Esper's sweet smile when she sees what Santa brought her.

12 Days of Christmas (Day 10)

I decided to make a card that I could put on a present to my brother. I wanted to include this adorable photo of us from Christmas Day 25 years ago. That is crazy to think it was so long ago. My earliest memory is of him being born. He was my little baby and I adored him. I sang him Christmas carols and put his binky back in his mouth when it fell out. I loved him and squeezed him (probably too much at times). I'm so grateful he is home for the holidays this year and that I get to watch him love and squeeze my daughter.

Inspiration for this card found here.

12 Days of Christmas (Day 9)

I did something new today. I scrapbooked in 8-1/2" x 11" size instead of 12" x 12". Just thought I'd switch things up a bit. I saw this layout on Pinterest and wanted to recreate the spray mist look. I started with a crumb cake background and then added three layers of Vintage Overlay 11. Then I added three snowflake punches in crumb cake. A couple of them I sent backward one layer, and one I left on top. I love the result. To see more things you can do with this Vintage Overlay, see this video tutorial I made.

I also recolored the satin ribbon. I found that the Basic Grey ribbon was best for recoloring to Cherry Cobbler.

12 Days of Christmas (Day 8)

I was inspired today by a Thanksgiving card. Change out the greeting and voila, you have a beautiful Christmas card. This one came together so quickly. I'll bet you could recreate it in 15 minutes in MDS.

DIY Reindeer Teacher Gift Bags

Today I have a project to share with you that Esper and I made for her preschool teachers. (Inspiration found here.) These reindeer teacher gift bags were so easy to make! I just used brown lunch sacks that I filled with candy, chapstick, and hot cocoa packets. To make the antlers, I just twisted pipe cleaners and then stuck one end into the back of the bag, where the flaps fold over. This project was very easy to make with a child because you are just punching shapes out and then gluing them on. Esper got distracted eating candy, though, so she wasn't much help.

She did think that the reindeer needed a little jewelry so she tried to put a bracelet on them.

Then she was "crafting." In this picture she is saying to me "Mommy, you hand me dos scissors?" I died laughing. Of course I said no. This girl can only have safety scissors.

How can I say no when this face asks for ten more M&M's? :)
