Christmas Tree Shaker Card

I have a simple but charming card to share with you today. My mom wanted me to design a shaker card that uses the new Shaker Frames for her club this month. I was inspired by this card by Mindy Bingamon. I had to improvise because we didn't have any of the white glimmer paper or the mica flakes (I used glass glitter), but I think it still turned out cute! You could also use Dazzling Diamonds in the shaker for a cute, glittery look. I stamped the "M" off once, so that the "Merry" would show up better when stamped on top of it. If you would be interested in creating this card at my monthly card club, email me.

MDS Blog Hop: Out of the Box Designer Series Paper

Today's challenge was to use a Designer Series Paper for something OTHER than what it's intended for! I used the Limited-time Savor the Season Hostess-Only Content CD. It's available October 3-December 31 for Hostesses or customers that put in a $150 order. The digital Savor the Season Ensemble comes packed with trendy, festive holiday stamp brushes, Designer Series Paper patterns, embellishments, punches, and several designer templates that are perfect for holiday cards and projects!

What I especially love about this kit is the colors! They are so bright and fun, and because they aren't the traditional Christmas colors, they looked great on this layout about my daughter.

Check out this video of Stampin' Up!'s Holly Linford showing how great these designs look when printed:

So what are you waiting for? Email me to book your workshop where we will create some awesome holiday projects.

P.S. I am now including links to fonts used and project inspiration in my supply lists. Hope this helps!

Watercolored Stocking Christmas Card

Today I made a card for The Paper Players Challenge #68- to create a Christmas themed card using the colors red and green. I love this Gift Givers stamp set from the Holiday Mini and hadn't played with it yet. There are images in this set for every holiday! I stamped the stocking images using StazOn ink onto watercolor paper. Then I used Watercolor Crayons to apply color to the stockings. It's so simple! Do you remember using water to do paint in those books as a kid? Well it's kind of like that. You apply a little bit of color to the image with crayon, then use an aqua painter to blend the color. The watercolor paper absorbs the water so your paper doesn't get warped. I also used the new Mini Jingle Bells. These are SO dang cute. I love that when I pick up the card, it makes a jolly sound. Another thing I did was to loop some baker's twine through the holes of the lace border punch. I love the finished result!

Remember to check back here tomorrow for our weekly MDS Blog Hop- this week our challenge is to use a Holiday or themed designer series paper for something other than its original purpose (like scrapbooking a birthday page using Halloween paper).
